Good morning Runners! Lately I’ve been finding inspiration in helpful running books. I love to read before bed when there is time and wanted to share a few favorite recommendations…
Eat & Run by Scott Jurek
This is the book I just finished. I found it very motivating and had a few of you guys reach out and say you loved it as well! Scott Jurek is an Ultramarathoner who opens up about his plant based diet, a journey to being vegan, his life growing up and the power of mental endurance. He includes a few of his favorite recipes, benefits of healthy eating (that kind of make me want to be a vegan) and shares so many amazing running tips!
Here is a quick article he wrote for Runner’s World on adding more vegetables to your diet.
If you want to start running, already run marathons or are any type of athlete, I think you will gain something helpful from reading this book!
Marathon by Hal Higdon
I followed Hal Higdon’s marathon training program and found this book full of great running tips!
Running for Women by Danica Newon
This runners resource book includes log charts, benefits of running, healthy pre and post run recipes, workouts, proper form and more. This book is a down to earth guide that offers helpful tips for beginners too!
“Running should be a lifelong activity. Approach it patiently and intelligently, and it will reward you for a long, long time.” -Michael Sargent
What I talk about when I talk about running by Haruki Murakami
Haruki Murakami is a Japanese novelist who wrote this memoir about life, writing and obsessions with running. It was hard to put down. I first heard about it from Jacey Duprey and really loved it!
Please send me your favorite running books too! Next on my list is Born to Run and then Running your first Marathon.
