We hadn’t really done a life update post since we got married so I thought it would be fun to share some of the frequently asked questions we get! Now that we are settled at home things are a little bit more relaxed around here. π
Luke: long sleeve shirt (XL) // jeans // sneakers (true to size)
Krystal: grey Sweater (XS) // legging ankle jeans (size down) // belt (size 75) // knee high boots (true to size)
What are your favorite restaurants in Dallas? My favorite is Shinsei + Luke’s are Town Hearth and Mi Cocina. For casual we love Flower Child, True Foods, Asian Mint and Eat Zi’s.
Do you always workout together? We love running together on the weekends. We are pretty much exactly the same pace which is really nice. During the week we usually workout at separate times. (I like to workout first thing in the morning and Luke prefers to after work.)
Do you cook together? Yes! Usually three times per week but I would like to more often. Thankfully Luke loves to grill so he usually makes the protein and I do the sides.
What is your favorite part about being married? Living together. I love coming home to each other and also the security of being married to your best friend! π Married life has been really fun!
What was your favorite and least favorite part of wedding planning? My favorite was dress shopping and choosing flowers – Luke’s was the food tasting! My least favorite was the stress that comes along with all there is to get done. Since we pretty much created the venue, we had a lot of decisions to make and planning to do in a short amount of time. At the end of the day it was all worth it – everything turned out perfectly!
Did you do any couples counseling before you got married? We did have meetings with our pastor at Church while engaged and loved it! We got to know him before the wedding and also he helped talk through potential disagreements for the future.
How do you handle disagreements? For the most part we get along really well and are on the same page, but when an argument is not going anywhere, we usually take a breather and come back to it a few hours later. This can help to rationalize and think about what you are going to say before saying something in a hurtful way that you donβt really mean. Next one of us usually makes a joke or says something funny to lighten the mood.
What does Luke do for work? He is in Commercial Real estate on the Industrial side. He loves his job and has been with the same company since graduating college. He also has a great group of friends from work which is really fun!
Do you have similar or opposite personalities? Luke is extremely outgoing, adventurous and thrives on being social. I am a little bit more reserved and love that he gets me out of my comfort zone!
Where did you both go to college? I went to SMU and Luke went to OU.
What are Luke’s favorite casual brands? He loves AG, Paige and 7 FAM for jeans, Rag & Bone for T-shirts, Peter Millar for pants, vests and sweaters & Common Projects sneakers. We order most of it on Nordstrom.
Do you style Luke or does he pick out his own clothes? Both. I think he has really great taste in clothes and love the way he dresses. He picks out all of his work clothes and I usually shop for casual for him. I also like to surprise him every once in awhile with things I know he will like and that will fit – a new tee, workout clothes or fun pair of socks.
What does he think you look best in? I think it is funny that he compliments me most when I’m wearing the most casual clothes, workout clothes or joggers lol. His favorite things in my closet are this zip up sweatshirt and Golden Goose sneakers.
How old are you? We both turned 30 in July.
Did you like Bora Bora for your honeymoon? We only have the best things to say about Bora Bora! We both loved it and found that it was so relaxing, but there was also so much to do there! Here is more about our trip!
Do you want kids? Yes.
Where is your living room and outdoor furniture from? It is pretty much all from Restoration Hardware.
What are your favorite things that you do together? I would say the simple things – I love just hanging out on the couch at night before bed, cooking and also running together is really fun to me! We also travel well together and love quick weekend trips! Next up, we are looking forward to decorating our house for Fall and then Christmas for the first time!
A few of my favorite closet essentials for fall – comfortable black boots, legging ankle jeans and this grey sweater. (love the ruffle detail at the wrist!)
Luke loves these dark wash jeans from Nordstrom. He is tall (6’2) and often has a hard time finding jeans that fit right – these are perfect to wear with sneakers, loafers or boots. I just ordered him this soft long sleeve tee from Nordstrom. I think he will wear it a lot now for the transition to cooler weather and later with a vest or under a jacket. He is wearing the XL for size reference.
Luke’s favorite shoes ever are these white sneakers from Nordstrom. He wears them every weekend for casual outfits and loves them for travel because they are so comfortable.
If you want to invest in one pair of boots this year I highly recommend this versatile black pair of knee high boots! I got them on Nordstrom over the Summer – the block heel is so comfortable and the height works day or night.
This pretty grey sweater is under $100 and so comfortable – I’m picky with materials and even Luke commented on how soft it is! I’m wearing the XS for size reference. This brown belt is perfect for both jeans and dresses. I paired it with a black dress and heels here. I’m a 25/26 in jeans and wearing the size 75 in the belt for reference.
