TIPS FROM 5 WOMEN WHO RUN THEIR OWN BUSINESS

Time management can be a struggle for anyone, especially women who work.  Managing relationships, kids, a career and a social life can be really tough.  I asked five busy business owners who always have it together how they manage it all…

“For me it is important to pick up my kids from school everyday I’m in town, so I don’t take time for lunch and use that time to have a few precious minutes with my little ones. I’m not advocating eating lunch on the fly for everyone, but to me I’d rather have an hour with my kids than sit down for lunch in the middle of my work day. “

Jamie O’Banion,  Founder of Glo Pro

“Being a mom and a business owner it’s so easy to slip so having a very clear system in place is what helps. For example I try to do the bulk of emails mornings and nights so I have less to respond to during the day and dinner is always family time. “

Nasibal Adilova, Co-Founder of The Tot

“First and foremost have good boundaries with your time. It’s okay to decline an invitation. (Your friends and family are routing for you and they will understand a missed girls dinner every now and again).
Second, and this is life changing if you don’t do it already, conduct a weekly meeting with yourself to review all the things you have ahead of you.  If you have a spouse or significant other get them in on it too – it will improve your relationship and might even get you an extra set of helping hands.”

-Laura Pierson, Jewelry Designer

“To stay organized and on top of things I try to take each new task day by day and always plan ahead! I have a detailed calendar that is always with me and sticky notes in hand!”

Tess Merrmian, Founder of The Wonder Waist Liner

“Each morning, I look at my to-do list and pick the three priorities or biggest projects. If I start with these, I feel more accomplished at end of day and farther along in my work. The day can get ahead of you and it helps to set my focus.”
