I always say, you can never go wrong with black.  It’s easy, effortless and edgy.

There are four basic black items every chick should have in the closet:

1. A black bag: I love the shape of a bucket bag because it can easily transition from day to night.  This one is a new favorite Nordstrom exclusive.

2. A great pair of black skinny jeans:  Current/Elliot makes my new favorite style. An added bonus… these come cropped so there in new hemming necessary.

3. The perfect tee:  Every smart girl invests in a great black tee.  Not only will it last, it looks chic with everything.

4. A black belt: Maybe it is the Texan in me, but I love a good belt.  I just picked up this Ralph Lauren one and have worn it almost everyday since.
