WORKING FROM HOME

working from home

On days when I’m working from home, I like to get dressed in a comfortable but polished outfit.  I know I will be way more productive if I change out of my workout clothes and get ready for the day.

It is amazing what a little tinted moisturizer, spritz of perfume and pretty flowers can do for your mood.

4 tips that have helped me:

1. Get dressed: Sure there are days where I just want to stay in my pajamas, but I know it will make me way more productive if I at least take a shower and change.

2. Designate a place that is exclusively for work: I use a small open room that is a designated area for work. You can also look into deducting the square footage from your home office space in your taxes if you are self employed.

3. Have a routine with breaks: I have an editorial calendar that I plan out days and sometimes weeks in advance to keep me on track.  I also have a daily schedule I plan out to help keep my A.D.D. mind running.  My weekday usually starts with computer time between 5 and 6AM, then takes a break for a workout mid morning and for lunch.  This type of structure works best for my personality.

4. Network outside: Since you are usually alone when working from home, try to set up a few coffee dates, lunch meetings and events to attend so that you get face time with friends and colleagues.
