We had so much fun taking engagement photos and love how they turned out! We really wanted our photos to feel warm and natural.

Wardrobe:
Since our every day style is pretty simple, we wanted to wear more laid back outfits that still felt put together. For the first look, I wore this classic black turtleneck with cream pants and Luke wore this cream sweater. For the next outfit, I styled a fitted quarter length white tee with a favorite pair of jeans to feel comfortable and polished.
I think these outfits work really well together because the tops are fitted, color coordinating (without being too matchy) and both of our jeans are a dark wash. Nothing too formal, just us.
Location:
We wanted our photos to be in a pretty Dallas setting with neutral backdrops – our photographer suggested Flora Street in front of the Dallas Symphony one hour before sunset. The lighting was perfect!
A few other recommendations for engagement photos are the Dallas Arboretum, Bishop Arts and White Rock Lake.
Photography:
We used our wedding photographer, John Cain. (Who also took our proposal photos!) He is so kind and always makes us feel at ease.
Before our session, I pulled up photos for inspiration! We talked about casual close-ups with a warm natural feel. Pinterest is a great place to look. John often gave us subtle direction on how to pose while letting us be ourselves which was really helpful.
The best lighting is always a sunny day in the shade. We shot just before sun down!
For hair and makeup, I wanted to look like myself, so I just did my every day beauty routine. This soft pink nail polish is my go-to color year round!
We made a fun date night out of our engagement photos which I highly recommend. After our session, we went to our favorite Sushi restaurant and sat at the bar then later met up with friends!
