Bora Bora was the perfect spot for the Honeymoon! We decided on the island because neither of us had been and we had heard such good things!! We wanted to go somewhere far (but not too far) and somewhere very relaxing (but not boring!) Luke was so sweet and booked all of the dinner reservations and activities. We really loved every minute of it and wanted to share more in case you have a trip planned or are or looking for a great vacation!
We stayed at the Four Seasons and only have great things to say about it! The service was incredible, the food was perfect and the over the water bungalows were so beautiful!
This was our room! I still can’t get over how cool it was to stay in an over the water hut! Also, the wifi was surprisingly really good so we could use our phones throughout the resort when needed.
The first night when we arrived, we had dinner on the romantic little island at sunset. We got picked up on a canoe and they went back and fourth to bring our courses! Just the two of us on this mini island – it was really cute!
As nice as it was to just lay by the pool, it was also great to have a few planned activities! This was the 3 hour snorkel tour. We stopped to swim with the stingrays, then to snorkel the pretty Bora Bora Coral Gardens (above) and the last spot was to swim with the sharks. I couldn’t get over my fear, so I didn’t get in for that part, but Luke and the other couple on our boat did!
We love to paddle board! The Four Seasons had these amazing crystal clear lagoons that you could paddle and swim in!
We both like to keep up with workouts on vacation! We will usually do an easy run, walk or lift weights in the mornings before breakfast. Here is a good hotel gym workout that Luke made.
Hotel gym workout:
(3 sets of 10 for each)
- Lunges with dumbbells
- Lat pull downs
- Dumbbell bench press
- Dumbbell curls
- Dumbbell shoulder press
- Squats
After weights or running we do this 8 minute abs video. Lol, pretty sure it is from the 80’s but we use it while traveling because it is quick and can be done anywhere!
Bora Bora Restaurants:
Lagoon Restaurant by Jean-Georges
This is at the St. Regis – a 10 minute boat ride away from the Four Seasons. We loved the classic fine dining atmosphere and they had a glass floor so you could see the fish in the water below! They also had the most incredible gluten free bread!
My sister and her husband recommended we go La Villa Mahana. We didn’t know what to expect and were so surprised! We pulled up to a sketchy looking house… and walked into a romantic french restaurant with only 8 small tables where you could see the chef cooking in the back! It was really cool. This was a boat ride then 30 minute taxi ride from our hotel.
The Arii Moana at Four Seasons
The Four Seasons had 4 good restaurants to choose from. Every day we had the big buffet breakfast at Tere Nui and lunch at Fare Hoa Beach Bar and Grill. For drinks over looking the water (authentic coconut water for me and Luke had a classic marg.) we went to Sunset. The first night we were there, we did the private dinner on their Island. For a nice Polynesian / French dinner we went to Arii Moana.
We loved that the hotel had other guests that we got to know by the pool, on excursions and at dinners! We made lots of new friends, yet it was never too crowded and we never had to wait for a table anywhere!
This was the morning view from our room – take me back!
Loved having this woven ‘Just Married’ beach clutch! Here is a blog post on what I packed for the honeymoon!
A few of you asked if we checked a bag since we normally don’t.. For this trip we did! We used our new Rimowa bags (a wedding gift) and loved them. We got the Rimowa carry- on version as well!
On our way to and from Bora Bora we connected through LAX. We used The Private Suite – a new private terminal and it was amazing! Instead of going through the airport, you go to a private building. TSA screening is done there. There are no lines. They deal with baggage, tickets etc. You just wait in a really cool private suite (stocked with anything you could ever want!) until it is time to board the plane. Then, you are driven across the tarmac directly to their aircraft.
The Private Suite definitely makes travel more fun! We were actually looking forward to our layover in Los Angeles on the way home!
We were so exhausted after the wedding and Bora Bora was the perfect vacation! We are already trying to figure out a way to go back for a big anniversary one day!
