Tips for starting your day:

Have an optimistic outlook on the day

Get excited! Thinking “I get to go run” or “I’m thankful for my job” are great ways to show gratitude.  Being positive in the morning can help set you up for a more productive and happy day.

Charge your phone in the bathroom

Keeping your phone in the bathroom overnight means that when you wake up in the morning you have to get out of bed.  This also helps me not look at my phone right before bed which means getting to sleep a bit earlier.

Get coffee first thing

The first thing I do in the morning is leave to go get coffee or make it at home.  I can’t start my day without it and it gives me something to look forward to when getting out of bed.  You don’t want to talk to me before the coffee lol.

Schedule your workout in advance

If you wake up early enough, there is always time.   I schedule workouts in advance on my calendar for motivation and so that I know what I need to do that day.  My workout clothes are in an easy access dresser next to my bed.  If it is an early week day workout, I try to do that after coffee and right before breakfast.  Getting my activity in first helps make sure I don’t cancel as other things come up later in the day.

Decide on a healthy breakfast

Making time for a good breakfast sets you up for a healthy day!  A few favorites are a green juice, a protein smoothie, a health bar, oatmeal with a banana and peanut butter or eggs with fruit.
